Lawyers Prepare to Protect Freedom of Assembly (ka)

With the current political situation giving rise to frequent street protests and arrests, the Georgian Bar Association (GBA) recognized the need to prepare some lawyers to actively defend the right to free assembly and manifestation. In November and December, Georgian expert Levan Meskhoradze delivered five on-line trainings on the topic of Freedom of Assembly and Manifestation to 68 GBA lawyers. At the end of each workshop, instructional materials, as well as power point presentations, were sent via e-mail to the participants. The program was part of USAID/PROLoG’s continuing effort to build the capacity of the GBA and increase lawyers’ ability to protect the human rights of Georgian citizens.
