Legal framework strengthened

PROLoG helps to develop a legal and policy framework that provides for a more independent judiciary, expand and strengthen due process protections for Georgia’s citizens, further implement Georgia’s international and domestic human rights obligations, and improve access to justice for women and minorities by pursuing reform of key justice system legislation.

As part of its efforts, PROLoG pursues the reform of key judicial system legislation, including provisions related to judicial examination, the selection and appointment of judges, and the promotion and disciplining of judges. PROLoG also supports the reform of key human rights legislation, and supports the Human Rights Council and its Secretariat in the effective implementation of the Human Rights Strategy and Action Plan. In addition, PROLoG seeks to support the development of anti-discrimination legislation and practice to ensure that basic international and regional human rights standards are observed in the Georgian legal system. PROLoG also supports commercial law reform to improve the business environment; this includes helping the Georgian justice system harmonize its legislation with European norms in keeping with the terms of the EU-Association Agreement and improving the legislation on alternative dispute resolution.  In addition, PROLoG supports civil society organizations to advocate in the areas of court administration reform, due process rights, and access to justice for women and minority groups.
