USAID/PROLoG Supports Presentation of Research at Free University of Tbilisi

06 April 2021 The authors: “Right to Fair Trial and Institutional Guarantees of Judicial Independence and Impartiality.”

On April 6, 2021, in the framework of its USAID/PROLoG grant, Free University of Tbilisi organized online presentation for over 80 participants of recently completed research: “Right to Fair Trial and Institutional Guarantees of Judicial Independence and Impartiality.”

The work was conducted by 4 local researchers: George Beraia - Invited Lecturer at Free University of Tbilisi; David Zedelashvili – researcher at Research Institute “Gnomon Wise;” Chiora Taktakishvili - Invited Lecturer at Ilia State University, Senior Researcher at “Policy Daily;” and Maia Kopaleishvili – Professor at Tbilisi State University, former Judge of the Constitutional Court of Georgia.

The researchers discussed the standards, approaches and practices of the Constitutional Court of Georgia, the European Court of Human Rights, and the Supreme Court of the United States of America regarding the right to a fair trial and institutional guarantees for the independence and impartiality of judges.

The presentation was followed by discussion and a Question & Answer session with participants.
