30 March 2021 Speakers discussing decision of the Constitutional Court of Georgia.

On March 30, 2021, in the framework of its USAID/PROLoG grant, Free University of Tbilisi hosted an online public lecture for over 100 participants: "Role of the Constitutional Court of Georgia in assessing the restrictions imposed against the pandemic.”

The lecture was led by Eduard Marikashvili – Chairman of Georgian Democracy Initiative, and Giorgi Chitidze – Human Rights Program Manager at Open Society Foundation Georgia, and  moderated by Marine Kapanadze, Invited Lecturer at Free University of Tbilisi. Speakers discussed the decision of the Constitutional Court of Georgia of February 11, 2021 "Paata Diasamidze, Giorgi Chitidze, Eduard Marikashvili and Lika Sajaia v. Parliament and Government of Georgia," by which the court did not abolish the legal basis for imposing restrictions, and considered the isolation/quarantine of persons without prior court decision to be constitutional. The speakers also analyzed the decision made and its possible impact on constitutional proceedings.
