GTUC Holds Live Consultation on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality in Labor Relations

22 March 2021 GTUC Live Consultation

On March 19, Georgian Trade Unions Confederation (GTUC), under the USAID/PROLoG-funded Legal Aid for Protection of Workers Affected by COVID-19 Pandemic project, organized an online discussion on women’s rights and gender equality in labor relations. GTUC lawyer Tamila Gabaidze and Lika Klimiashvili, representative of the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health, and Social Affairs of Georgia, talked about gender equality in labor relations, changes in the labor code that improve women’s labor conditions, maternity leave and benefits, discrimination and sanctions against it, as well as various labor rights protection mechanisms, including the newly established Labor Inspection Service. They also answered live questions received during the discussion. The consultation was organized in the framework of Women’s History Month.
