Anti-Sexual Harassment Mechanism Policy for GBA and LAS
26 January 2021
USAID/PROLoG supported development of a policy document on anti-sexual harassment mechanism for Georgian Bar Association (GBA) and Legal Aid Service (LAS), to create an environment free from discrimination and ensure equal treatment in their workplaces. USAID/PROLoG also supported development of a training module--elimination of sexual harassment and enhancing justice through gender equality--for GBA lawyers, which will help them in effective litigation of cases.
PROLoG started working on the anti-discrimination and anti-sexual harassment mechanism in 2019, following legislative amendments initiated by the Gender Equality Council of the Parliament of Georgia and supported by PROLoG, to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace and public spaces. According to the amendments, the employer became obliged to take measures for equal treatment of all employees, and to include provisions on prohibition of discrimination in internal regulations, and ensure their fulfillment. The Anti-sexual Harassment Mechanism was developed with the involvement of international and local experts, Patricia Noonan and Mariam Gaiparashvli.
PROLoG continues to support academic partners to implement anti-sexual harassment mechanism in the Universities. In addition, we offer a free download of the mechanism and complaint form to interested organizations, to assist with modification of their internal regulations, which will help them to eliminate sexual harassment in the workplace -- http://ewmi-prolog.org/en/home/SHMechanismeng
