USAID/PROLoG Supports First Meeting of GBA Election System Reform Working Group

01 October 2020 USAID/PROLoG Supports First Meeting of GBA Election System Reform Working Group

On September 29, USAID/PROLoG, in cooperation with the Council of Europe, supported the first meeting of the Georgian Bar Association (GBA) election system reform working group.

Members of the working group, composed of the representatives of the executive board, ethics commission, NGO, LAS and international organizations, discussed possible changes to election regulations and GBA charter, as well as planed further activities.  GBA aims to have the model of the new election system agreed and documents developed by April 2021, which will then be adopted by the General Assembly in Fall, 2021. USAID/PROLoG will continue to support this process by engaging with U.S. experts, who will assess the GBA election regulations and provide suggestions for improvement.
