Live Discussion of Electronic Case Filing in Georgia

18 September 2020 Live Discussion of Electronic Case Filing in Georgia

On September 17 USAID/PROLoG organized a live online discussion of electronic case management in courts, specifically the electronic case filing system used at the Tbilisi City Court (TCC). The discussion was organized within the framework of PROLoG’s judicial exchange activities and involved representatives of TCC and the Georgian Bar Association (GBA).

Head of the TCC Citizen Service Center, Ms. Mariam Jibladze, discussed the existing e-filing system, its benefits and changes implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the system was made free for all applicants. GBA member Ms. Ketevan Andguladze discussed e-filing from the perspective of lawyers. Ms. Andguladze underlined some of the technical shortcomings which make the system less convenient and expressed GBA’s willingness to participate in the working process. After their presentations, participants answered viewers’ questions related to technical details of the electronic case filing process.

The event was moderated by PROLoG’s Judicial Education and Exchange Specialist, Bakar Jikia. Mr. Jikia highlighted the project’s desire and effort to work with the TCC and GBA on improving user experience and awareness concerning e-filing, and confirmed that it will be one of the priorities for the new working group, formed at PROLoG’s initiative, with the Tbilisi City Court.
