USAID/PROLoG Supports First Series of Online Trainings on Child Rights for Judges
29 July 2020
In June-July, with USAID/PROLoG support, the High School of Justice (HSoJ) organized the first series of online trainings on Child Rights for Judges. The need for the training emerged when the Georgian parliament passed a new Code on Child Rights in September, 2019. The Code regulates issues of Child rights and freedoms, creates a legal framework for the functioning of relevant support systems and requires specialized interdisciplinary training for all actors within the justice system who have contact with a child.
USAID/PROLoG, with active cooperation from HSoJ, updated the training module developed by UNICEF, and then conducted a ToTs for judge-trainers over four days. The updated training module is athree-day course: one day devoted to legal aspects, the other two involving a psychologist and a social worker.
The first trainings covered 171 judges from various courts around the country. A second series will be organized in September, aiming to cover 32 judges.
