USAID/PROLoG Supports Academic Conference on 2020 Parliamentary Elections in Georgia

17 June 2020 Panelists are talking about 2020 Parliamentary Elections in Georgia.

On June 15-17, Free University Tbilisi organized an online Academic Conference on “2020 Parliamentary Elections in Georgia: Challenges and Legal Means of Their Resolution”. Funded by a USAID/PROLoG grant, the conference consisted of three panels, which discussed proposed changes to the electoral system and possible effects of the state of emergency caused by the current pandemic

Panelists at the conference included representatives of prominent national (ISFED, GYLA, Public Defender’s office of Georgia, Central Election Commission of Georgia) and international (NDI, IRI) organizations, including a member of parliament and former chairpersons of the Supreme and Constitutional Courts of Georgia.

The Academic Conference was also streamed on the USAID/PROLoG and Free university Tbilisi FB pages. Participants had an opportunity to send questions to the panelists.
