GBA Launches Career Talks with Law Students from Leading Georgian Universities

17 June 2020 GBA Launches Career Talks with Law Students from Leading Georgian Universities

GBA Ethics Commission started the implementation of - Career Talks with the law students of leading universities in Georgia. The purpose of these talks is for members of the Ethics Commission to inform students about the lawyer's ethical obligations and the impact professional ethics has on their work. In Total 6 talks will be held.

GBA decided to launch the talks online and organized two meetings in June. The first talk was held on June 11 at Georgian National University and the speaker was Besarion Bokhashvili. Another meeting was held on June 16 with European University, with Ethics Commission member, practicing lawyer Konstantine Gelashvili.

The Career Talk was held online, through Facebook live, and students had an opportunity to ask questions and clarify certain ethical obligations. The question and answer session was moderated by Ethics Commission senior lawyer Tamar Khubuluri. The conversation between the students and Commission members was interesting and received a positive evaluation from students, professors and speakers. The remaining 4 meetings will be held during the fall semester.

Organization of Career Talks by the GBA Ethics Commission is supported through a USAID/PROLoG Grant, which aims to support institutional development of the Bar Association and focuses on three main directions: Support of Ethics Commission; Institutional Strengthening of the GBA; and strengthening advocacy skills through CLE. USAID/PROLoG has been working with the Georgian Bar Association to strengthen its capacity since 2015.
