USAID/PROLoG Supports Adoption of Standards of Lawyers Specialization In The Field Of Rights Of The Child

16 June 2020 First page of the GBA Regulation Specialization of Lawyers in the field of Rights of the Child

Georgian Bar Association adopted Regulation on Specialization of Lawyers in the field of Rights of the Child with the support of USAID/PROLoG and UNICEF.

In September 2019 Article 5¹ of the Civil Procedure Code of Georgia came into force, according to which, starting from September 2020 only lawyers specialized in Rights of the Child are entitled to take part in legal proceedings involving a child. In order to effectively administer the system of child protection GBA has conducted ToTs on the Rights of Child with USAID/PROLoG support and will start training GBA member lawyers this week. This will ensure a trained cadre of professionals for people who need extra support and protection.
