On May 28 the State funded Legal Aid Service (LAS) continued trainings through USAID/PROLoG grant assistance. The grant aims to support institutional development building the capacity of LAS lawyers.

The third round of training was dedicated to child bullying and domestic violence issues –and was conducted by LAS lawyer Tamar Gabodze. The topics covered included:

  • scope of violence, its forms, reasons and outcomes;
  • tolerance and inclusive education;
  • psychological aspects of communication with parents and child victims of domestic violence;
  • connection between domestic violence and child bullying at school.

20 LAS lawyers participated in the training. Opening remarks were made by the Deputy LAS Director Nino Meladze and USAID/PROLoG Chief of Party Giorgi Chkheidze. Training for a second group of LAS lawyers on this topic is planned for June 4, 2020.

USAID/PROLoG supported its partner organizations, including LAS, to purchase a one-year subscription to Zoom Education, which allows them to conduct online training with reduced costs and greater flexibility.
