Online Meeting with Representatives of MIA, Prosecutor’s Office and PROLoG Expert Tamas Kadar

13 May 2020 Online Meeting with Representatives of MIA, Prosecutor’s Office and PROLoG Expert Tamas Kadar

On May 13, PROLoG supported an online meeting with representatives of Human Rights Protection Units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and Prosecutor’s Office and Tamaz Kadar, an international expert, hired to assist the PDO’s Equality Department with a 3-year strategy and action plan.

Participants of the meeting shared their views regarding the key achievements and strengths of the Equality Department that should be further improved. The representatives of MIA highlighted the areas the Department should focus on, including discrimination against the LGBTIQ community, as well as continuing regional awareness raising meetings on sexual harassment and conducting coordination meetings regarding regulation of sexual harassment.

The representative of the Prosecutor’s Office discussed the importance of PDO sharing opinions on legislative amendments and proposals, receiving guidelines and assistance from PDO regarding the recommendations on interrogation of persons with disabilities.  She also emphasized the importance of PDO’s active involvement in awareness raising campaigns.

PROLoG will continue to support online meetings between Tamas Kadar and relevant state institutions to discuss different views on the development of the Equality Department.
