TDI Conducts Online Discussion for High School Students

13 May 2020 TDI Online Discussion

On May 12, Tolerance and Diversity Institute (TDI), under the USAID/PROLoG-funded project “Images of Diversity: Promoting Tolerance and Non-Discrimination in Georgia,” held an online event for high school students and teachers. Appellate Court Judge, Ms. Ketevan Meskhishvili and two subjects of the documentary videos, developed under the previous TDI project, Nano Saralishvili and Liaman Mamedova, participated.

Ekaterine Chitanava, TDI director, provided information about the organization’s goals and activities, and the “Images of Diversity” platform. Ms. Meskhishvili highlighted the role of judges in defending the rights of minority representatives, and the other two guest speakers shared their experience and opinions on non-discrimination and equality. The students and their teacher were also actively involved in the discussion, and talked about tolerance, diversity, ethnic and religious minorities in Georgia, racism, and other salient issues. This was the first event in a series of discussions. Due to the current pandemic, TDI will organize talks online for students, teachers and the public on discrimination, xenophobia, racism and related issues.
