08 May 2020 USAID/PROLoG Supports New Project for Women’s Initiatives Supporting Group

In May, with USAID/PROLoG’s financial support, Women’s Initiatives Supporting Group (WISG) started a new project under the Legal Aid Grant Competition, which aims to increase access to justice for women and marginalized groups, including religious and ethnic minorities, women, children, people with disabilities and  the LGBTQ community—before courts of common jurisdiction, the Constitutional Court and the European Court for Human Rights.

The project – “Support Access to Legal Aid for LGBTQI Persons” will provide legal services to the members of LGBTQI community, who are victims of hate crime, violence or discrimination Litigating strategic cases can be used to advocate for marginalized groups and to establish legal precedents that can inform and protect others. WISG will also conduct field throughout Georgia to address the needs of local LGBTQI community representatives.
