USAID/PROLoG Supports Training of Trainers for Judges on Child Rights

08 May 2020 USAID/PROLoG Supports Training of Trainers for Judges on Child Rights

USAID/PROLoG continues to support the implementation of the Child Rights Code. This week, in cooperation with High School of Justice, professor Paata Turava and Judge Tamar Alania conducted a Training of Trainers for eight judges on Child Rights. The aim of the trainings is to develop a module for judges on a “child-friendly” justice system, a requirement of the new Child Code, which enters into force on June 1st. During the three days, trainers discussed provisions of the Child Code and novelties it sets for the justice system. A separate session will be involve a psychologist and a social worker. After the module is completed, the High Council of Justice will adopt specialization requirements for judges and cascade trainings of all civil and administrative law judges will begin.

Last week, with USAID/PROLoG support, a similar training was conducted for Georgian Bar Association and state Legal Aid Service.
