USAID/PROLoG supported Ilia Uni Human Rights Chair continues to organize human rights awareness activities

25 March 2020 Students’ discussion on Climate Change and Human Rights

On March 24, the Human Rights Film Club, established under Ilia Uni HR Chair, organized an online discussion for ILIAUNI students on “Honeyland,” a 2019 Sundance film Festival winner and best documentary feature nominee at 92nd Academy Awards which explores the life of a bee-keeper woman and touches upon issues of climate change and human rights. Participants were provided with the film in advance then invited to join in a discussion with the ILIAUni Human Rights Chair, Tamar Gurchiani, as well as Human Rights Clinic lawyers Mariam Melkadze and Tamar Kapanadze.

18 students actively participated in a lively discussion on climate change and its effects on human rights. Students also emphasized that it was very helpful and important for them and stay active and engaged during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Ilia Uni HR Chair is planning to host similar activities next month.
