Union Sapari Holds Roundtable on “Access to Justice for Women”

05 March 2020 Union Sapari Roundtable on “Access to Justice for Women”

On March 3, Union Sapari, under the USAID/PROLoG-funded legal aid project “Comprehensive Approach to Violence against Women and Girls,” held a roundtable discussion—"Access to Justice for Women”—along with the Georgian Women Judges Association (GWJA). The meeting was organized in the framework of Women’s History month, which annually highlights the contributions and accomplishments of women in history and contemporary society.

Baia Pataraia, Executive Director of Union Sapari, and Tamar Alania, Chair of GWJA, delivered opening speeches and spoke about women in the judiciary, barriers to women's access to justice and their possible solutions; future plans of the association, and its role in empowering/supporting women judges. Sapari lawyers also presented the organization's cases of violence against women/domestic violence, court fees, paternity test and challenges they face during the litigation process.
