USAID/PROLoG Supports National Moot Court Competition on Legal Ethics

03 December 2019 Legal ethics moot court participants and organizers

From November 22-24, the USAID/PROLoG-funded Legal Ethics Chair at New Vision University organized the second National Moot Court Competition on Legal Ethics. Twenty-seven students from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, University of Georgia, New Vision and Sulkhan Saba University took part.

The Legal Ethic Chair conducted a one-day preparatory training on November 22, covering the competition concept, competition rules, and basic principles of lawyers’ ethics. Preliminary rounds were held on November 23, and teams presented their positions on an Ethics Commission moot hearing. The four teams with the highest scores advanced to the final rounds on November 24. The teams were anonymously assessed by expert-judges.

The organizers decided not to identify the winner and all four teams in the final rounds were granted Certificates of Achievement. The students gained practical experience in legal ethics and valuable feedback from the judges.

New Vision University plans to continue organizing annual legal ethics moot competitions.
