2019 Judicial Summer School Successfully Completed

26 July 2019 Participants of 2019 Judicial Summer School

During July 20-25, USAID/PROLoG, together with other donors (EU4Justice, CoE, UNICEF, UNDP, OHCHR), in cooperation with the High Council of Justice, Supreme Court and High School of Justice, supported the 2019 Judicial Summer School for judicial assistants and employees of the analytical departments of Georgian courts. A total of 25 judicial employees and five students participated in the School, which offered intensive training on a wide variety of topics, including independence of the judiciary, prohibition of discrimination, new legislation on sexual harassment, right to a fair trial, among others.

USAID/PROLoG’s support for the Summer School included a session on recent new legislation on sexual harassment, delivered by expert Nino Chikhladze, who was involved in drafting the amendments. This is the second year that the donor community supports Judicial Summer and Winter schools, which have already served more than 120 participants. An alumni network of judicial school participants created this year at the initiative of several donors will continue to support judicial assistants.
