USAID/PROLoG supports a Workshop with Parliament on Selection of CJ Judges

18 July 2019

In June 2019, USAID/PROLoG, together with partners, supported a visit of the Georgian Parliament leadership to the United States to review US standards and procedures related to the selection of Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges.

To further support the ongoing process of selection of Supreme Court Judges in Georgia, USAID/PROLoG helps the Parliament and its members to properly prepare for the final stage of decision making, by sharing aspects of the selection of US Supreme Court and Federal Judges that may be applicable to the Georgian reality.

On July 13-14, the first Workshop on “Participation of the Parliament in the Selection Process of Supreme Court Justices: US Experience” was held in Borjomi, with the involvement of the members of the ruling party – Georgian Dream.

USAID/PROLoG will continue supporting the Georgian Parliament in this process to make the selection of Supreme Court Judges more transparent and merit-based.
