Second Series of Courtroom Communication and Case Management Workshops

18 April 2019 Judge Baland talking about the concept of procedural fairness

USAID/PROLoG, in cooperation with the High School of Justice (HSoJ), successfully finalized a second series of workshops in Courtroom Communication and Case Management for civil law judges, judicial assistants and listeners of HSoJ. Judge Timothy J. Baland conducted the workshops, focusing on different aspects of courtroom communication, such as verbal and non-verbal, as well as ways to better manage the courtroom, including lawyer and party misbehavior.

During his second visit in April, Judge Baland conducted four workshops for 59 participants, including judges and judicial assistants from various courts of Georgia, as well as listeners of HSoJ. 60 civil law judges from across the country attended the first series of workshops in February.

USAID/PROLoG will continue to work with HSoJ on training of local trainers and integrate the course into the in-service training curricula for sitting judges.
