PROLoG Supports Fifth Round of EHRAC Training

17 September 2018 EHRAC experts conducting fifth round of EHRAC training

On September 11-13, under the USAID/PROLoG-funded mentorship program for legal aid lawyers, the European Human Rights Advocacy Centre (EHRAC) conducted its fifth round of trainings for PROLoG’s partner NGO lawyers. The three-day training was conducted by EHRAC Director Philip Leach and legal consultant Ramute Remezaite, and was designed to increase the NGO lawyers’ capacity to litigate strategically important cases at the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR). The training focused on the right of freedom of expression and discussed relevant ECtHR case law.

During the training, the experts organized a moot court and individualized legal clinics for the participants. They also discussed the practice and procedures of the ECtHR, and the application of articles of the European Code of Human Rights to discrimination cases. During individual legal clinics, the experts consulted with the NGO lawyers about the draft applications to the ECtHR for the strategic litigation cases they plan to submit to the Court. The next training will take place in Spring 2019.
