Judicial Summer School Successfully Finalized

06 August 2018 Participants of the Judicial Summer School

From July 28 to August 2, USAID/PROLoG together with other donors (EU4Justice, CoE, OHCHR), in cooperation with the High Council of Justice, Supreme Court and High School of Justice, supported the 2018 Judicial Summer School for judicial assistants at Georgian courts. A total of 26 judicial assistants participated in the Summer School, coming from Tbilisi and Kutaisi City and Appellate Courts and the Gori, Bolnisi and Akhaltsikhe regional courts. The Summer School offered intensive training on a wide variety of topics, including independence of the judiciary, case law of the European Court of Human Rights regarding freedom of expression, prohibition of discrimination and the right to a fair trial, as well as the rights of a child, restorative justice, and alternative dispute resolution. Judge Nino Gergauli from Gori Regional Court shared the experience she gained through USAID/PROLoG’s judicial exchange program to the National Judicial College in Reno, Nevada (USA). She delivered a session on leadership and team work in the court system. USAID/PROLoG plans to continue supporting the Judicial Summer School initiative in 2019 as well.
