Network of Centers for Civic Engagement (NCCE) - Improving Information Flow on Human Rights’ Issues between the Center and the Regions 2

Period/Duration: 02.01.2017 – 11.30.2018

Amount:  $89,036

Project description: The project aims to improve communication and exchange of information on Human Rights issues between the center and the regions. In 2017 the project supported the Human Rights Secretariat to disseminate information in the regions on approaches, strategy and developments in the human rights protection area, with particular emphasis on the Human Rights National Strategy and Action Plan. The NCCE initiated, organized and conducted fifteen informational meetings, discussions, interviews and TV programs in the regions with the participation of representatives of the Secretariat, Parliament and Government, as well as local actors.

In 20018 the NCCE will hold ten additional meetings in the regions of Georgia. During these informational meetings handpicked speakers (including experts, MPs, representatives of Public Defender’s Office) will discuss with the regional stakeholders ongoing and planned reforms promoting Human Rights in Georgia, including issues reflected in the Human Rights’ National Strategy and 2018-2020 Action Plan to Protect Human Rights. In addition, the NCCE team will organize public lectures at local universities in six cities (Akhlatsikhe, Batumi, Gori, Kutaisi, Telavi, and Zugdidi) as well as air talk shows on human rights with the participation of invited experts.
