Amount: $40,515
The project aimed to strengthen the Georgian judicial system through comprehensive assessment of the High School of Justice of Georgia (HSOJ) and its functioning within the judicial system. ISFED and IDFI analyzed procedural and institutional guarantees of the HSOJ and studied the initial stage of judicial education system. Specifically, they analyzed the legislative framework in which the HSOJ operates as it prepares prospective judges, and how it interacts with the HCOJ. The project also reviewed international best practices for the organization of judicial candidate recruitment and training. Besides the final report the project also developed an outline for the necessary legislative changes that the project and the Coalition for Independent and Transparent Judiciary could base their advocacy on.
