Human Rights Center (HRC) - Promote Access to Justice for Women, Religious and Ethnic Minorities in the Regions of Georgia
Period/Duration: 04.15.2017 – 10.14.2018
Amount: $99,741
Project description: The project increased access to justice for women and ethnic minority groups in Kakheti, Kvemo Kartli and Shida Kartli by addressing the state’s incapacity to prevent and investigate domestic violence, femicide and early marriage, and failures to respond to gender, religious and ethnic-based discrimination and violence. The project provided consultations and legal representation for target groups in Tbilisi, Kvemo-Kartli, Shida-Kartli and Kakheti, and engaged in strategic litigation in courts of ordinary jurisdiction, the Constitutional Court, the European Court of Human Rights, and before the U.N. Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW).
