Project description: The project aimed to study the legislation and practice regarding investigative activities undertaken in criminal cases and the prosecutorial oversight of these activities. EMC, in cooperation with the Association of Law Firms of Georgia (ALFG), reviewed the legislation, conducted interviews and discussions with relevant actors, engaged local and international experts to study the situation in at least two foreign jurisdictions, and developed a concept note with proposed reforms. The main purpose of the proposed project was to ensure the proper placement of the investigative process within the adversarial model of the criminal justice system.
